Week 44: Laredo

What an amazing week! My new companion is Elder Rosero. He is from Ecuador. He didn't know any English before the mission but his English is super good! He has a lot of excitment to go out and do the work. He taught me how to just go out and love everyone and get things done.

This week we had a miracle baptism. Our investigator Alan that we found last week got baptized. All of his family are members. For his baptism his mom and grandma talked about baptism and the gift of the holy ghost. Both of their testimonies were so strong. The spirit hit me so strong at his baptism. This family had been waiting for so long for Alan to become a member. After the baptism Alan's mom came up and thanked me for helping her baby boy be baptized. It was such a testimony builder to me. Please keep him in your prayers though. He has a lot of mental issues and has been on pills lately, but they ran out and I'm not sure if they have gotten more. Please pray for him.

We had a lot of good lessons with everyone else as well. But it seemed like something came up for everyone and they couldn't make it to church. But we are going to keep working with them all.

This week was an amazing week. I'm excited for this transfer. We also are most likely going to have another baptism this Sunday with another miracle. His name is Robert. He has gone to church every week forever. I always thought he was a member. But at Alan's baptism he said he wanted to get baptized as well. He doesn't live in our area but we are going to teach him in the church. He is super prepared! Keep him in your prayers as well!!! I love you all!!!

Week 43: Laredo

What a week of miracles!!!

This week i was on exchanges for three days so I had a diffrent companion. I worked with elder Nicholaides. We came out to the mission together so we had a lot of fun! On Monday we worked in our area after p-day. We found an awesome family, but they are super catholic so it might take us a while to teach them and get them to come to church.

On Tuesday we worked in the area of downtown. It is super ghetto! I felt like I was in Mexico the whole time. We found some really cool people and taught a lot of their investigators.

Then on Wednesday we came back to my area. We found some amazingly prepared people. One of them is a part member. His whole family is members except for him, but they are less active. He is about 23. He just got out of jail and wants to change his life and give up his old habits. So we taught him about baptism. He came to church as well!!!!! It was awesome to help him.

We also found a girl named Stephanie! We were driving by her road and saw her outside. We almost drove by but the spirit told us to go back. So we did. We taught her and she wants to change her life as well. The best thing was that she brought one of her friends to a lesson and we started to teach her as well. They went to San Antonio though so they couldn't make it to church.

We also found a single mom named Gaby. She just left her boyfriend and is having a really hard time moving on, but we are going to keep teaching her. She would have come to church but she went to Austin.

This week was super amazing. We found so many prepared people. It was a huge testimony builder to me!

Week 42: Laredo

This was a pretty good week! We found a lot of people. Now we just have to help them to progress!

On Thurdsay we were on exchanges so I was working with Elder Ault. We had just tried to visit one of our investiagotrs but he wasn't there. So we decided to pray to know what we should do next. As we finished the prayer we looked up and saw a kid had just walked by us. We stopped him and talked to him. It turns out his mom died 5 years ago and he really needed some help. So we taught him the plan of salvation. I know that it helped him out so much! We are going to keep trying to visit with him.

I learned the importance of doing what the spirit says. I know that the Lord has prepared people for us to teach. We just have to find him! It's all up to us!!!

Week 41: Laredo

What a crazy week!!!

Last monday My companion had to go down to McAllen for a training so i got to work in a trio with the other elders in my district. It was a super good day. Then on Wednesday we had interviews with President Maluenda. I love interviews so much! He helped me out a lot.

One thing that he invited me to do is study the Bible Dictionary on prayer. THis section stood out to me the most.

"The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them.Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."

I learned from this that god is already willing to grant us things. We just have to ask for it. Prayer is so important and we have to take advatage of it.

Other than the interview it was a really slow week. We are struggling to help our investigators progress. So a lot of our focus this next week is going to be finding. I know that this church is true!!!! I love it so much!!!!!
