Week 71: Hidalgo

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! This week went by super fast!!! We spent a lot of time going by a list of YSA people. The stake wants us to reach out and rescue them. But pretty much all of the ones on our list moved.
For Thanksgiving we got to play football with the other zone so there was like 50 of us and a lot of members. It was super fun! Then we had a zone meeting after. Then we got our faces stuffed with food!!! At the first place we had ham! It was super good, then we had a normal dinner after that. It was a super good Thanksgiving! I'm pretty sure I put on ten pounds last week! We ate a lot!!!

This week we didn't have contact with L. She was still in the hospital. We even tried to visit her there but she was in dialasis when we went there. We had a pretty good lesson with C on Wedensday! We taught him about the Book of Mormon. He couldn't make it to church though. We also found a new investigator named F. Her dad is forcing her to get married and she doesn't want to. It was kind of weird but I don't doubt the gospel can help her with that!
Right now the work is a little slow but I know there are prepared people waiting for us!!!

Week 70: Hidalgo

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

This was a pretty good week!!! There was three day training in the mission so we were working in a trio. Elder Bailey, elder Taylor and I! We had a lot of miracles!! The good thing about working in a trio is you can go into any home you want! Which is super useful in our area with a lot of old single widows. So we got to do a lot of visits. The members here are doing a lot of missionary work! It's super cool to see. The members brought their friend to mutual and then we taught him and then he came to church on Sunday!! We are going by him tomorrow with members to teach him again!!

The stake wants us to focus these next two weeks on finding all the YSA aged members. There are 800 plus lisited with like maybe 100 that go to church. So we have a big list and we are going by all of them as fast as we can!!! We know that our area will be blessed by following the preisthood keys here in the stake!
This is going to be an awesome week!!! Full of tons of food!!!!!!! Wish us luck!!!!!!

Week 69: Hidalgo

Well this was a pretty good week!! We found lots of cool people to teach. One of the hardest things about our area is that we cover two cities so sometimes it's hard to work them both evenly. We hardly get up into the part of McAllen that we cover. But this week we were able to get up there and we found a super cool investigator. She is like 30 but has super bad health. She has to go to dialasis 3 times a week. So it's super hard on her. We told her that we could visit her in the hospital and she got super excited. She really wants to come to church but couldn't make it this Sunday because she was in the hospital. But we are going to keep working with her and help her grow spiritually!
We are starting to see some members inviting their friends! This Sunday we should have a couple of new people at church because of the Primary Program! The ward here is super awesome!! It's super easy to get good fellowship here. The mission is amazing!! I love it so much!!!

Week 68: Hidalgo

I'm glad that you figured out where I am at!! I am in the great area of Hidalgo!! Elder Bailey came to this mission with me actually but he served 5 months in another mission but went home for medical. Not sure why.  We live with Robinson who is our district leader and also elder Taylor. The ward is huge! Our area is huge. We have tons of members. We are in a car. We have met a lot of members but I still haven't met all of them. We have about 30 active households so it's going to be a lot of work. There was pretty much no one in the teaching pool when I got here. We only use Spanish. It's super awesome!!! I'm excited that I get to only serve in one unit (ward). It was super hard serving in three in Laredo. I think that the zone covers the Mcallen West Stake but I'm not too sure.

Well the dreadful day came. I never thought I would leave Laredo. For my first couple of prayers I kept saying Laredo not Hidalgo. But I'm super excited for the new start! This week we got a media referal. The lady requested a Book of Mormon. So we went and contacted her!! It turns out that she had just gotten back from UTAH!!!! She toured the temple and confrence center and knows so much already!! She kept talking about how she likes how we have a prophet and apostles! She seems super cool!!! We are going to have a lesson with her tonight!! I'm super excited. She has a lot of potential. Things are going really well here in Hidalgo. I know if we do this work the Lords way we are going to start seeing more miracles!!! I love Hidalgo already! There is so much to do here! Our area is the whole city of Hidalgo and we have part of McAllen as well. Thank you so much for all that you do for me!! I love you so much!!!!! I love you all!!!

Week 67: Laredo-Casa Blanca

What a fantastic week!!! This week was the last week of the transfer. On Sunday I shared my testimony in both branches just in case I get transferred. But I was up on the stand and our investigator Magdalena still hadn't showed up to church and I said a quick prayer that she would come and when I opened my eyes she was there!!! It was super cool!!! She is going to get baptized next week!! Things are going super well right now for our area. My biggest fear is that I will get transferred. I can't imagine doing missionary work any where other than Laredo. We will know soon what is going to happen. I love my mission so much!!! So many amazing things happen every single day!!!  Have an awesome week!!!
